Sometimes, on good afternoons, we make our way across the river in search of a good lunch at the posh Marina Bay Sands.
On this day, Fat Chub, with a little Guest Chub found her way to Bay Sushi, which is run by the same guys who run Todai, an international buffet restaurant also located at Marina Bay Sands.
They have a varied selection of lunch bento sets at prices starting from $15++. The restaurant was about 70% full on during weekday lunch hour, which is pretty impressive for the location.
Fat Chub had the Sushi Set. After all, if a restaurant has “Sushi” proudly declared in its name, the sushi has to be good, right?
The set comes with a bowl of udon, 8 pieces of sushi, a chawanmushi, some fried items (prawns and vegetables), salad, pickles, miso soup and fruits nicely presented on a rectangular platter. The dishes came quickly, which is always a plus when you have a timeline to meet in the office in the afternoon.
The sushi was fresh and the chawanmushi was smooth and lightly flavoured with a good silky texture.
The salad was dressed in citrus, non-oily sauce, which was very refreshing and good for cleansing the palate in between each piece of sushi.
In summary, the set is value for money as there is a satisfying variety on items in each bento and each item is well prepared. It is definitely a place we will visit again.
